The art works presented have been inspired by and related to EU Horizon 2020 funded project 'Fungal architectures' ( http://www.fungar.eu)

Fungal Architectures is a new cross-disciplinary research project that seeks to develop a fully integrated structural and computational living substrate using fungal mycelium for the purpose of growing architecture. To achieve this goal we have assembled a consortium comprised of architects (CITA), computer scientists/biophysicists (UWE), mycologists (UU) and industry experts in mycelium-based technologies (MOGU). We will target two principle technological breakthroughs: 1. growing monolithic structures at metre length scales and 2. functionilising the mycelium network to act as a computing device.

The artists presenting are Irina Petrova, Andrew Adamatzky, Anna Nikolaidou, Neil Phillips, Nic Roberts and Antoni Gandia.
